The route begins at the Mosque-Cathedral. As you enter, the first thing you see is the forest of over 850 marble and granite columns, with the red-and-white two-tone arches repeating in every direction. The itinerary covers the building's different extensions, from the original mosque of Abd al-Rahman I in the 8th century to the successive expansions by later caliphs. The Mihrab area is the most elaborate point of the complex, with gold-tessera mosaics brought from Byzantium and a dome carved from a single piece of stone. At the centre of the building is the cathedral transept, the Gothic and Renaissance cathedral that the chapter built in the 16th century inside the mosque, with its Choir Stalls and Main Altar.

From the Mosque, the route enters the Judería via Calleja de la Hoguera. The itinerary passes the Zoco, the neighbourhood's former craft market, and the Chapel of San Bartolomé, a small 15th-century chapel with Mudéjar plasterwork decoration on its walls and vaults. Next to the square that bears his name stands the sculpture of Maimonides, the philosopher, physician and theologian born in Córdoba in the 12th century, considered one of the great thinkers in universal history. The visit includes entry to the Synagogue, built in 1315 and one of only three medieval synagogues preserved in Spain, with its prayer hall decorated with Hebrew inscriptions and Mudéjar motifs.

The last stop is the Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs. Its interior preserves several large Roman mosaics found beneath the building, along with a 3rd-century early Christian sarcophagus. The gardens are one of the complex's standout features: terraced levels with pools, fountains and cypresses, from which you can see the Mosque-Cathedral tower in the distance.
