The tour begins at Seville Cathedral, entering through the Patio de los Naranjos, the space that recalls the Almohad origin of the building. Before going inside, the guide sets the scene: this is where the old mosque stood, on top of which the great 15th-century Christian temple was built.
Inside the Cathedral, the visit moves through its main naves to take in the scale of the building and the role it played in historic Seville. The tour stops at the High Altarpiece, a piece over forty metres tall carved in wood, created to narrate scenes from the Gospel through imagery.
The next part focuses on the Choir, with its stalls carved in the late 15th century and the two large organs framing the space. The visit then continues to the tomb of Christopher Columbus, held up by four figures representing the kingdoms of Spain.
Before leaving, the route passes through the sacristies, which hold paintings by Murillo and Goya, as well as the Cathedral's treasury. It's a more intimate part of the visit, with pieces that help you see the artistic weight of the monument beyond its grand naves.
